Draw the Sun

 

Come and draw with us as we explore our closest star, the Sun.

The Science Museum has astonishing images created by scientists investigating the Sun. Curator Dr Katy Barrett has picked out some of her favourites to inspire you with solar flares, Sun spots, eruptions and eclipses.

Make your own Sun art, guided by artist Geraldine Cox along with Imperial College London Sun scientist Dr Ravi Desai. Join their conversation about the Sun, how it was born and why it is so important to Earth – from solar power to poetic inspiration. Bring your questions and your biggest, brightest ideas.

This workshop is aimed at children aged 7-11 and their families.

To take part you will need:

• Paper to draw on 
• Pencils, pens, crayons or felt tips to draw with. 

You might also like to have these materials with you, but they are not essential:

• Card 
• A glue stick
• Scissors
• Transparent materials that let light though, for example: coloured tissue paper, tracing paper, cellophane, or greaseproof paper.
