New opportunity: 2025 Festival programme coordinator x2 (Freelance)
Festival programme coordinators (freelance) - x2 roles
A great opportunity for two creative festival curators and producers to help programme a popular science and art festival.
These are ideal roles for those with experience project managing the production of large-scale public events and festivals, as well as working with scientists on creative ways to engage the public with complex topics.
Each of these two roles have a distinct focus:
- One will be looking after the Family Fun Zone, which is the Festival’s dedicated space for family audiences. It includes a amily zone stage, which will feature a two-day line up of family friendly shows and performances.
- The other role will look after 2-3 smaller and more specifically themed Festival zones, each offering a mixture of content that will appeal to adult and family audiences alike.
The Great Exhibition Road Festival is an annual two-day summer festival of science and art led by Imperial College London, in collaboration with the Natural History Museum, the V&A, the Science Museum, the Royal Albert Hall, the Royal College of Art and various other institutions. The next Festival is taking place on 7 and 8 June 2025.
These roles will centre around taking a range of proposals for creative exhibits, artistic workshops, live experiments, and engaging talks from Imperial College London researchers and festival partners – and turning them into exciting and engaging zones where visitors can have a memorable and unique experience learning about science and exploring their creative side.
In contracting these roles the Imperial Public Engagement team are looking for individuals able to demonstrate a combination of creative curatorial skills (e.g. inputting into exhibiting teams' ideas to improve the outcomes for both public attendees and the exhibiting Imperial teams), and project management and event production experience (e.g. equipment ordering, floorplan design, risk assessments approval, carrying out briefings, coordinating set up and pack down, and production schedules oversight etc). You will also need to be comfortable balancing your time supporting multiple teams and keeping them to vital production deadlines.
