The Magical World Inside You

Make, create and play as you discover the tiny but mighty microbes your body is home to.

Explore the microbiome, the fascinating world of tiny creatures that are enormously important, in this fun, creative workshop with artist Jennie Pedley and bowel surgeon James Kinross.

Make friends with some bacteria, discover what they get up to in the human body, what powers they have to help us stay alive, and what to feed them so they can defend us. Then use an old cereal packet to create a stage for your stories of these mighty microbes.

Please send us your questions! We’d love to talk about them during the workshop. You can submit these questions on Eventbrite when you register for this event or add them to the live chat on the day.

This workshop is aimed at children aged 5-12 and their families.

You will need:

  • Paper (white and pink are useful but any colour is OK)
  • Coloured pens or pencils
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • A clean, empty cardboard box such as a cereal packet or shoe box
  • Optional: Any raw fruit, vegetables or nuts you have at home (2 or 3 pieces)
