9 inlaid images of masks and craft items that might be used as talismans

Event schedule details

Saturday 15 & Sunday 16 June

Event location details

Creative Science Zone

Sir Alexander Fleming Building, Imperial College London

Create a talisman to offer protection for yourself or on behalf of a loved one, species, ecology or society.

Take some time for cultural exploration and personal expression while you craft your own talisman: symbolic objects that embody healing, protection and personal empowerment for yourself or on behalf of a loved one, species, ecology, or society. Material Healing is a space where you can connect with diverse traditions, express your individual narrative, and forge a sense of community through shared creativity.

Join material healing artist Zixin Yan from the Royal College of Art to find out how symbolic objects from different cultures represent wellness and protection and the power of different materials. Then explore personal symbolism as you reflect on your identity and experiences and create your very own talisman to take home with you.
