Explore the wonders of materials science through light! In this exciting, hands-on workshop, you’ll use everyday materials like paper cups and sticky tape, along with polarising films to create your own kaleidoscope. Uncover hidden patterns in light as it passes through different materials.

Learn how scientists at Imperial College London’s Department of Materials use these effects to study materials, then take your kaleidoscope home or showcase it in a festival exhibit on Exhibition Road! A fun and interactive way to see how science transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary.
