Event location details

Join Mahogany Carnival Designs and butterfly researcher Mahika K Dixit in this hands-on workshop exploring butterfly wings, nature and how climate change affects these delicate structures.

Discover how human activities impact butterflies, why wing shape matters for survival, and how museum collections help us understand the past to protect the future. Then, get creative and design your own wearable butterfly wings, choosing patterns and features inspired by different environmental changes.

Once your wings are ready, take flight and show off your handmade butterfly wings in our Butterfly Carnival Parade at 14.00 and 17.00 on both days of the Festival. Led by a dazzling big butterfly wing performer and accompanied by the uplifting rhythms of Nostalgia steelpan band, this joyful parade is your chance to spread awareness of how small creatures can teach us big lessons about climate change.
