Adults Only Zone
Beit Quadrangle, Imperial College London
Join textile artist Angela Woii and Imperial College London’s Women’s Health Network for a playful, hands-on sewing workshop exploring the fascinating world of the vaginal microbiome!
Pick up a petri dish, choose your fabrics, and stitch together a unique, beaded blend of bacteria and immune cells. Add a magnet, and take home your own microbiome-inspired fridge magnet.
While you bead and sew, chat with Imperial researchers about how the delicate balance of bacteria in the vaginal microbiome influences health. Just like the gut, the vagina has its own thriving ecosystem. Some microbes protect, while others can cause issues. This interactive session will unravel the science behind this often-overlooked part of the body in a fun, creative way.
No sewing experience is necessary as the steps are easy to learn and there will also be options available for creating without sewing involved.
