Weaving Waste
Get creative with the contents of your recycling bin and discover some of the surprising ways new life is brought to waste materials by artists and engineers.
Be inventive in weaving together material from your old clothes and the contents of your recycling bin in this fun, hands-on online workshop. Artist Gayle Chong Kwan, materials scientist Dr Elena Dieckmann, and Yona Lesger from the V&A Museum will help you discover and explore surprising ways new life is brought to waste materials.
Materials you’ll need:
- Scissors
- At least 2 clean, empty, plastic milk bottles (any size)
- Old clothes cut into 0.5cm x 20cm thin strips (or use pieces of leftover wool, string or ribbon about 20cm long)
- Paper
- Pens or pencils
Please note that we will be cutting up the plastic milk bottles during the workshop. This should be done by an adult or by a child with close adult supervision.
This workshop is aimed at children aged 8-12 and their families.
